Billing and Fees

At UCMI we believe in providing premium diagnostic imaging for everyone. While we try to have our services bulk billed to Medicare, some tests or procedures will attract an out-of-pocket fee. This charge reflects the skills and costs involved in offering a top-quality imaging service. No matter which type of service you require, our helpful staff will explain the billing process when you book your appointment.

Pay Online by Credit Card
You can Pay Your Bill Online via our secure payment gateway.

Pay by BPay
Contact your financial institution to register for BPAY. Once registered, look for the BPAY details on the bottom of your UCMI invoice.

Pay by Cheque
When paying by cheque, please complete the tear-off section at the bottom of your invoice and include it with your cheque in an envelope addressed to:

Pay by Telephone
Payment via telephone can be made 24/7 by calling 1300 868 054. You’ll need your UCMI invoice number and Visa or MasterCard to complete the payment. A receipt will be sent to you the next business day.

Pay in Person
You can pay in person at any of our clinics, in clinic locations around South East QLD. We accept cash, cheque or credit card (Visa or MasterCard only).

Out-Of-Pocket Expenses

If you do need to pay any out-of-pocket fees, you will be asked to settle the balance of your account on the day of your procedure. Our staff will then lodge the claim to Medicare and your health fund on your behalf. Medicare Claims lodged by UCMI Staff will normally be reimbursed by Medicare within 24 hours. Inpatient health fund reimbursements can take up to a few days.

Medicare Safety Net

If you are paying large amounts towards your outpatient medical expenses, you may be entitled to receive an extra rebate via the Medicare Safety Net. To find out whether you qualify for the Medicare Safety Net, visit the Medicare Australia website or call the Medicare hotline on 132 011.

Government Freeze on Medicare Rebates for Radiology

Medicare rebates for Radiology Services have not been indexed since 1997. The failure of successive Governments to resume the indexation of Medicare rebates for Diagnostic Radiology services have resulted in all Radiology providers been required to absorb the increasing costs of providing Medical Imaging services to Australians year after year.

Industry bodies such as the Australian Diagnostic Imaging Association and the Australian Medical Association have recognised the need for Government action to restore indexation of these rebates. This position is strongly supported by UCMI in order to continue to provide the best possible service to our patients.
