What is Dental Imaging?

Dental Radiography (sometimes referred to as OPG) describes the acquisition of specialised imaging of the teeth, jaw and joints of the mouth. Acquisition of dental imaging involves the use of a dedicated piece of x-ray equipment.

Why Do I Need A Dental Imaging?

Dental Imaging is generally performed for dental check-ups or pre-treatment examination of the teeth and jaw. Occasionally Dental Imaging may be performed for certain types of trauma.

Dental Imaging requires no pre-made appointment and can be performed on a walk-in basis.

No special preparation or requirements are needed for Dental Imaging.

What To Expect On The Day

You will be asked to remove any jewellery on your face and neck. Additionally, it will be essential for you to remove any piercings in your lips or your tongue. If you have any removal dentures, you will also be asked to remove these during the examinations.

During the OPG, a panel will complete a 180-degree rotation around your face acquiring the imaging.

The entire procedure will typically take no more than 15 minutes.
